Japan Pulp and Paper (USA) and Gould Paper Corporation Consolidation

Mr. Satoshi Sakai, President of Japan Pulp and Paper (USA) and Mr. Harry E. Gould, Jr., President of Gould Paper Corporation, New York City, jointly announced the consolidation of the current JPP (USA), Atlanta based Specialty Paper division with Gould’s New York based Specialty Paper division.  The current JPP (USA) specialty operation, based in Atlanta, focuses primarily on importing and exporting specialty papers on a global basis.  Mr. Sakai stated that, “Consolidating the JPP (USA) division with Gould is an integral component of JPP’s long term growth strategy.”

 Mr. Gould stated, “With this consolidation, our customers will benefit through an expanded product offering and a fully integrated sales and logistic network. Mr. Meyer Weiss will direct the consolidated division as Senior Vice President.”

Mr. Meyer Weiss stated, “The Gould specialty division will be renamed JP-Gould Specialty Papers. The existing sales team of JPP Atlanta, Stephen Popadiuk and Robert May, will remain as an integral component of the new division.  Additionally, we will continue our existing Atlanta distribution support.”

Mr. Meyer Weiss further stated, “The combination of these two specialty divisions will expand our product offering and provide a platform for further growth.  At present, the specialty division is handling Converting Base Papers, Pressure Sensitive Face Sheets, Digital Printing Papers, Special Packaging Base Sheets, Food Packaging Grades, Papers and Films for electronics packaging as well as many more items.”

With the JPP and Gould resources, the specialty platform will provide the full range of services, including logistics.  The specialty division operates in the domestic and international markets sourcing, marketing, and selling products.
